Investigators to launch fresh probes against Shashikala Patankar, Dharamraj Kalokhe

There seems to be more trouble in store for constable Dharamraj Kalokhe and drug peddler Shashikala alias Baby Patankar; two more investigating agencies are set to launch a probe against both.

According to sources in the Mumbai crime branch, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) will be making enquiries into the assets owned by Kalokhe. If they are found to be disproportionate to his income, the ACB might file a fresh case against him.

A senior officer with the crime branch said that Kalokhe has been a constable posted with Marine Drive police, and when he was arrested, he had more than 100 kg of drugs with him, which 'established his role in the drug racket'.

"Now, the ACB will be looking into the assets created by Kalokhe. It will also be investigated whether he has been involved in corruption of any kind while serving as policeman," the officer added.

Patankar's amassed ill-wealth that she earned from the drug trade will also be under the scanner by the Income Tax department.

According to sources in the Mumbai crime branch, Patankar and her relatives have a total of 22 bank accounts, and one of her fixed deposits had more than Rs1.45 crore in the account.

The police also informed that Patankar has invested heavily in the real estate, and is believed to have a bungalow near Pune, as well as a few shanties in Worli slums. "We have already identified the properties of Patankar, and now the IT department will be probing more into her assets and income," informed another officer from Mumbai crime branch.
