A 38-year-old man from Thane was recently appointed as a member of the International Foundation of Sustainable Peace and Development (IFSPD) for their office in India. With this victory under his belt, Vidyadhar Prabhudesai hosts the first India office of the international body.

IFSPD, on March 5, appointed Prabhudesai as a member. The resolution for appointment was passed in the annual meeting of IFSPD in Turkey last Sunday. "It is more challenging now as I am representing my nation. And they have proposed a center at Thane," said Prabhudesai.

IFSPD is an international NGO founded on March 4, 2009, and has eastern European countries and the Republic of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Russia as its members. The body comprises diplomats, researchers, scholars and academicians. It aims to promote dialogue, mutual understanding, people diplomacy, multiculturalism, analysis of challenges and threats to regional and international security.

Prior to his appointment, Prabhudesai had submitted a presentation to IFSPD on the impact of information technology (IT) on sustainable development.

Prabhudesai wants the centre in Thane to work out solutions for global challenges.

"The proposed centre will work towards some cutting edge research on sustainable development, crisis management, etc., where we study best practices, new models, new technology across the globe and create white papers, in-depth reports, etc., which can be tied to the sustainable development goals," he said.

In October 2018, he was selected as a member on UNESCO's (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) International Policy Lab which seeks to solve global problems.

Prabhudesai is also the co-founder of LeadCap Ventures and LeadBurg mobile behavioural analytics platform.
