The Mumbai Crime Branch unit 11 has arrested eight persons from Noida in Delhi for allegedly cheating scores of people on the pretext of selling insurance policies and taking huge sums of money by luring them with large cash winning amounts. The police have also raided a bogus call centre run by the accused persons.

According to police, accused Sandeep Gupta, 26, and Ashish Gupta, both former employees of insurance companies played a major role and provided the data of customers to five other accused, who contacted the unsuspecting customers and asked them to deposit cash in different bank accounts opened by them through bogus documents.

Rinku Solanki, 24, another accused held was involved in providing SIM cards procured through bogus documents.

"We were probing the case of a Malad resident who had lost Rs 22 Lakhs after he was lured with a promise of Rs 32 lakh in return. The persons involved were running bogus call centres in Delhi" said a senior crime branch police officer. The accused have been booked under various sections of the IPC.
