Curiouser and curiouser... that's how children are known to be the world over. And what better way to know what goes on in those curious minds than to get them to speak out. This Children's Day, we celebrate the inimitable honesty and curiosity of children by asking them some straightforward and some curveball questions.

If I were made the school principal for only one day, I would invite the parents of all the children studying at my school. I would do this on Children's Day so that the parents can come attend the school and experience their own school days.

Zenia Vimal Parmar, 11, Class 6, St. Joseph's Convent High School, Bandra (W)

I would like to change many things when I grow up, like stopping corruption and punishing people who take bribes. The other change that I want to make is to spread awareness about cleanliness. I also want to make the roads/infrastructure better to avoid heavy traffic and for smooth movement of vehicles and people. I will work on a project that gives poor people (like those who live in slums) better housing; I want existing slum dwellers to move into a good building or colony.

I love my school as it gives me the opportunity to learn, understand and grow and set a standard for several things in life. I love my school for the windows of opportunities it opens for me and for instilling confidence in me.

I think it would be a bad idea as I strongly feel that there should be exams as they are very important. I feel exams gauge our knowledge, smartness, intelligence and our calibre. Exams would broaden our understanding as to what we can and should do for our future.
—Nikita Singh, 13, Cuffe Parade, class 8

If I were made the principal of my school for a day, I would tell all the teachers to be kind towards the children. I would give all my students a fair chance to prove themselves. Also, I will make all the bad students understand that they should not hit anybody.
—Abhinav Dangwal, 8, Prabhadevi, class 3

If I were given the chance, I would like to change the equipment, desks and benches in the school. Also, I would like to add a huge swimming pool, extend the playing ground and make the school more sports-friendly. With all this, I can play more with my friends.
—Rohit Kamath, 13, Marine Drive, class 8

I would like to be Batman as I would be able to see in the dark. With such a vision, I will play more pranks on my friends and have lots of fun with them. Also, I will ride Batman's bike and take the Batmobile on the top of buildings.
—Neil Jham, 8, Prabhadevi, class 2
