After being in JJ hospital in Byculla for four days, Indrani Mukerjea — the prime accuse in Sheena Bora murder case — was discharged by doctors and sent back to Byculla prison on Tuesday. Mukerjea, who is presently in judicial custody, is accused of killing her daughter Sheena in 2012. On Friday, she had collapsed in jail and was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. According to the doctors, Mukerjea allegedly had an overdose of antidepressant pills.

Dr TP Lahane, dean of Sir JJ Group of hospitals, said, "Our team of doctors, under whom Mukerjea was admitted, found her fit enough to be discharged. She was taken to the prison from the hospital around 5.30 pm."

Dr Lahane added that she is presently on an antibiotics course. "She was reviewed by a psychiatrist who felt she is normal and has not prescribed any anti-depressant. In a couple of days, her health status will be reviewed," informed Dr Lahane.

According to officials of Byculla women's jail, Indrani was brought back to the jail in a completely covered police van and was taken to the jail superintendent first. Later, was shifted to her cell. The jail authorities said when Mukerjea came back to the prision, she was in her senses and was responding to the questions of the jail authotrities.

"Indrani was brought back and she looked fine when she was taken into her cell," said a jail official. "We will be keeping a close watch on her and there will be guards to monitor her movements," he added.

Sources in the jail informed that the authorities have recorded Indrani's statement soon after she was brought to back. "We have recorded her statement on the entire incident and it will be a part of the inquiry report done by special inpsector general (prisons) Bipin Kumar Singh."
