Tangerine Art Studio and The Hive haveintroduced a new wave of pan-arts community spaces in the suburbs

Which is probably the most popular suburb in thiscity's jar of gems? Bandra, which is full of globe trotters, artists, thinkers,chefs and celebrities constantly up to something eclectic and fascinating. Acommunity space was lacking, until now for these minds to express and practicetheir art.

A walk down the slopes of Pali Hill will lead you toTangerine Art Studio, a new space for performing arts and workshops. Amulti-disciplinary arts studio in Bandra, it is a versatile space that lendsitself to dance, yoga and fitness programmes as well as to the performing arts.Tanvi Mehra, owner of the studio, shares, "I have been involved in performingarts for 20 years now and have been teaching yoga for a year. It was a dream tohave my own space, with everything and anything that you could possibly learnunder one roof. I realised that Bandra was lacking a pan-arts community drivenspace. So in February 2014, I launched Tangerine Arts Studio."

The daily roster of classes includes ashtanga yoga,pilates, zumba, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary dancing, Bollywood dancing, MuayThai, and belly dancing. On weekends, the studio has a more flexible schedulethat incorporates fun workshops across disciplines, be it baking, bartending,hula hoop, acting, pop-ups and more. It sure is a fresh approach to communityspaces to learn something new, unexpected and exciting and involves expression,movement, education and conversations.

It is aone of a kind eco-system focused on supporting and furthering the arts andtechnology. It is a co-working space for start-ups, entrepreneurs and thecreative community, a workshop and event space with classes across disciplinesfor the mind and the body, a performance space to showcase budding andestablished talent and a café to eat, drink, unwind and work.
