The Kasarwadavali police have booked seven persons, including the husband of a 19-year-old woman, for allegedly harassing her after her father failed to fulfill their demands for furniture, car, costly watches etc.

In her complaint to the police, the woman said that she was being harassed by her husband Amarjeet Sharma (22), a resident of Kobra Galaxy Atlas in Brahmand area of Thane, his parents and family members.

"Demands for furniture for the entire house, car and costly watches were made by the complainant's in-laws. However, after her father failed to meet those demands, she was subjected to mental and physical torture at the residence of her in-laws," said a Kasarwadavali police officer.

"After she realised that the torture was too much to endure, she explained her situation to her parents, following which a formal complaint against the husband and in-laws was filed," said the officer.

"We have registered a case under IPC sections 498 (A) (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (common intent). After the case was filed, we immediately recorded the statements of the accused persons. We are investigating further before making any arrests," said investigation officer SP Jadhav of Kasarwadavali police station.
