While the Opposition was absent in the Maharashtra state assembly, it was former Minister Eknath Khadse who played the role of Opposition and criticised the government. Khadse asked the Power Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule as to whether he was Minister for only Vidarbha?

Participating in a department-wise discussion over the Budget, Khadse pointed out that 14,000 farmers in his native district of Jalgaon were waiting for power connections despite paying money along with demand note. He questioned as to whether Bawankule was minister only for Vidarbha since Vidarbha farmers were receiving power connections in a matter of 24 hours.

He said that on one hand, the power department was not providing power and, on the other hand, it was disconnecting connections for not paying bills. Khadse questioned that if the government was disconnecting power for not paying bills, what action should be taken against power department which was not providing connections to Jalgaon farmers for the last seven years?

Khadse said that Bawankule held a meeting in Jalgaon last year and assured that Rs 50 crore would be sanctioned for Jalgaon under Infra2 project. Khadse pointed out that despite the assurance, not even 50 paise had been provided to Jalgaon in the last one year.

Khadse questioned the industries department as to whether there was any investment coming in areas other than the golden triangle of Mumbai-Pune-Nashik. He asked as to how much investment from the MoUs had been realized and how many people in the state had received jobs. He questioned as to whether a single industrial unit has been started in North Maharashtra other than Nashik.
