The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday declared the withdrawal of monsoon from Maharashtra including the Mumbai region. “The change in wind and rainfall patterns delayed the withdrawal of monsoon in the state by around 15 days. However, the delay has resulted in a good quantum of rainfall in the state, especially, the interiors”, an officer from IMD Mumbai said.

Rainfall in the city was better this monsoon compared to the last two years. This has resulted in a good storage of water in reservoirs. This means Mumbai has sufficient drinking water for this year and there will be no water cuts.
However, the transition from monsoon to winter has risen the humidity levels and thus Mumbaikars are suffering from the heat.

If the current wind pattern continues, Mumbai is expected to feel winter from mid-November.

The city is now expected to have dry weather until Wednesday. However, isolated parts of Maharashtra may have rains or thunderstorm from October 26 to 28, according to IMD.
