The All India topper of ICSE 2012 class X Shalaka Kulkarni, again emerged with flying colours in JEE (advanced) 2014, being the topper amongst girls in Maharashtra. The much-awaited result of JEE (advanced) – 2014 was declared at 9 am on 19 June, 2014, as per schedule.

With a score of 281 out of 360 and all India rank (AIR) 87, Kulkarni is a state topper amongst girls of JEE Advanced. She started preparing for JEE (advanced) only after she gave her board exams. Talking to dna, she said, "I chose to prepare only after my class X board exams as I wanted to keep my options open. I don't agree with joining coaching classes from an early age in school. I completely enjoyed my school life and have consistently been a topper at school. I got time to pursue extra-curricula activities like debates, elocution, writing, etc. That was only possible as I did not enrol with any coaching classes during my schooling. I believe that preparing for JEE in XI standard is the right time. I don't believe that studying at CBSE schools alone, can prepare one for competitive exams. Being in an ICSE board-affiliated school really helped me, as did my junior college in Singhania school. Now, I wish to pursue my career in electrical engineering at IIT-Bombay and I am sure that I will get admission there. My mother and my elder sister have been instrumental during my preparations."

Aniket Bajpai, another topper from Mumbai, scored 288 out of 360 marks with an AIR of 55 in JEE advanced. Bajpai said, "I was in Singhania ICSE school till standard X and later joined the state board for junior college. I started my preparation for JEE during my junior college, which helped me to score better. Joining HSC board for junior college was a bad idea at all, because for JEE preparation, I preferred NCERT books. I am planning to do computer science engineering from IIT-Bombay. My parents were of great support to me, especially my father, who is an electrical engineer."

Chitraang Murdia is another topper and belongs to Rajasthan, under the IIT-Delhi zone. He has secured 334 of a total of 360 marks. Aditi, from IIT-Roorkee zone is the topper amongst female candidates, securing an AIR of 7 in the Common Merit List (CML). There are five female candidates amongst the top 100 rankers.

Out of 1,26,997 candidates:
27,151 candidates were registered,
19,416 were qualified in CML,
6000 in OBC (Non Creamy Layer),
4400 SC
