IIT-B organises Cyclothon to help control sugar levels

IIT Bombay's annual annual science and technology festival, Techfest, will organise a cycling marathon on Sunday called (Can You Really Escape Diabetes) CURED.

The event will commence at 7.30am and will occur within the premises of the prestigious organisation. The cyclothon aims to emphasise on the importance of cycling which goes a long way in controlling sugar levels. The cyclothon is kept free of cost to encourage participation of all students above 12 years. Free T-shirts and basic refreshments will be provided at the Cyclothon by the Techfest team. Mahendra Mahajan, a well-known cyclist and RAAM (Race Across America) finisher will be the guest of honour at the event. The top 20 cyclists of the nation will also be present at the event. Karan Mehta, media manager of Techfest, said, "We have received approximately 1500 registrations from children and adults alike for the marathon which will spread over a distance of 15 kilometers."

In September, Techfest, IIT Bombay conducted a successful PAN India diabetes awareness and checkup drive with a total of 180 camps being setup across 9 states to provide free diabetes checkups and medical consultation to a targeted of 1,00,000 people.
