The festival will screen eight award winning short films related to the LGBTQ community curated from the seventh edition of Kashish MIQFF held in May 2016.

Kashish Forward is one of a kind travelling campus LGBTQ film festival in the country. The films to be screened include three Indian films – All about love by Tejashri Joshi, My child is gay, I am happy by Sopan Muller, and Any other day by Srikant Ananthkrishnan & Vikrant Dhote.

The five international films include - Amar: Deaf is an identity by David Ng (Canada), Keep your head up by Neil Browne (Ireland), No matter who by Anne-Claire Jaulin (France), Dear Drew by Dylan Shapiro & Maddy Laing (USA), and To mum (LOVE, ME) by Joyene Nazatul (Singapore) will also be screened.

“Kashish Forward is a prominent initiative to address the youth as the films particularly focus on their lives and issues. It is an eye-opener for other students, staff members, colleagues, faculties, family members, and friends who do not know what LGBTQ youth go through in their formative years. Kashish Forward definitely calls us to be sensitive and inclusive in our approach towards the LGBTQ community,” said Sridhar Rangayan, Festival Director. The event has been previously organised twice at the IIT-B campus.

The festival's aim is to highlight issues such as identity, discrimination, bullying, finding love, acceptance by family to name a few.

Rangayan, said: “The aim of Kashish Forward is to spread awareness, acceptance and empowerment. So far we have organised this travel campus LGBTQ film fest in 12 institutes of our country and almost over 200 people have visited every event. Through this fest, many institutes have started discussion platforms and other different initiatives related to the LGBTQ community.”

The screening will be held held on Friday, October 7 at 6pm in the LT - PCSA auditorium at IIT Bombay, Powai and is open to all.
