Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that no one had come to him asking for support to form a government yet, but if someone asked for his backing, he would think about it.

Addressing the media soon after the Maharashtra election results were out, Thackeray said, "So far no one has approached me, but I will consider backing the one who will work for the development of a 'United Maharashtra'.

Uddhav Thackeray's 'United Maharashtra' remark once again cleared his stand over not separating Vidharbha from Maharashtra. While campaigning for the Maharashtra assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that no one can divide Maharashtra, but state BJP President Devendra Fadnavis took an opposite stand on the same day, saying that they (the BJP) were firm on their demand for a separate Vidharbha state.

Uddhav further added, "We will consider any proposal for a stable government. If BJP asks for our support we will consider and think about it." Thackeray also said that if BJP wanted, they could go ahead and take the NCP's support.

Thanking Shiv Sainiks, he said, "We did not get the success as we had expected. But we will not let down people."

Indirectly commenting on Narayan Rane, Thackeray said, "We have defeated the one who had hurt late Balasaheb Thackeray". Narayan Rane lost his seat to Shiv Sena's Vaibhav Naik from Kudal constituency.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said, "No one would want to go with NCP, when people have voted against them".

About BJP patriarch LK Advani's comments favouring a reunion with Shiv Sena, Uddhav said, "This is what I had expected. When Balasaheb, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Advani, Pramod Mahajan and Gopinath Munde were around, it was not just a political alliance, but a close relationship. We have secured 60 seats which is not a bad performance," he said, adding that nobody could corner him.
