Iconic Mani's Lunch Home to reopen on November 11

After finding it difficult to locate space in Matunga to reopen the eatery, the 61-year-old owner of the lunch home, KS Narayanaswami has decided to shift the eatery to Chembur.

Four months ago, food lovers gathered at the iconic South Indian eatery Mani's Lunch Home to savour a last meal before it downed its shutter for re-development. On Friday, food lovers can gather once against at Komal Villa in Chembur to witness the re-opening of the famous eatery.

The eatery will serve traditional Keralite Brahmin food. In Matunga, it was famous for serving quality food at low prices. After finding it difficult to locate space in Matunga to reopen the eatery, the 61-year-old owner of the lunch home, KS Narayanaswami has decided to shift the eatery to Chembur.

"After we vacated the place because of a redevelopment order on July 1, we were looking for another space in and around Matunga. Since we could not find a new space, we decided to shift the eatery to Chembur. We hope our customers respond positively to the new address. Many of our relatives and family members, who are regular customers, are excited about the unveil," said Narayanaswami. The owner promises to maintain the same standards to keep the legacy of the eatery alive. "The menu and seating arrangement will remain the same. The new eatery can accommodate around 65 customers. We have been forced to tweak the prices as we have shifted to a new locality," he said.

Being a pure vegetarian hotel serving Kerala cuisine, Onam festival was regularly celebrated on a grand scale at the eatery.

Speaking about how loyal patrons were eagerly awaiting the reopening, Smita Deshmukh, who visits the eatery regularly along with her friends, said, "Even if the eatery was far away, we would have visited it. I have the menu memorised by heart."
