Mystery shrouds the death of a 21-year-old law student who was found dead on the railway tracks between Parel and Currey Road stations on Wednesday. Pallavi Vikamsey, daughter of Nilesh Vikamsey, president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), had gone missing from Fort on Wednesday evening. The police are now trying to trace the victim's mobile phone which they suspect could be stolen.

Sukhlal Varpe, Senior Police Inspector, MRA Marg police station, said, "On Wednesday, when her family could not contact her, they made inquiries with her office and were told that she had left around 5 pm. They then lodged a missing persons complaint around 10.30 pm." He added that the CCTV footage from CSMT showed Vikamsey boarding a slow local train around 6 pm from platform number 5.

Around 6.40 pm, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials informed the station master about a woman lying on the tracks in an injured state. The Dadar Central GRP did not find any belongings from her person which made it difficult to identify her.

Meanwhile, MRA Marg police had circulated her photo at all the railway and city police stations which helped GRP identify the girl.

Nitin Bobade, Senior Police Inspector, Dadar GRP, said, "Her family does not suspect anything foul. We have registered a case of accidental death and are probing further."
