Houswife gagged, slashed with knife in her Andheri home

Two people barged into a house and attacked a 27-year-old housewife with sharp-edged weapons in Andheri (East) on Monday afternoon. The duo then decamped with 70gm gold ornaments.

According to the police, the incident took place when the victim, Seema Dubey, was at home in Ashthavinayak Society in Andheri (E) with her 11-month-old daughter. Her husband has gone for work.

"We are investigating the case from all possible angles and are also questioning the victim and his family members," a police officer of the MIDC police station said.

"We learnt that the duo has not stolen the entire gold ornaments from the house and even they did not rob jewellery which the victim was wearing,'' added the officer.

The police the two entered the house around 2:30pm armed with a knife. They gagged the victim and slashed her repeatedly and fled away with the gold. The incident came to light after her husband Akhilesh Dubey returned home from work at around 6pm and found his wife lying on the floor in unconscious. He rushed her to Holy Spirit hospital in Andheri (East) and informed the MIDC police.

"We have registered a case of robbery and attempt to murder against unidentified persons and have launched a man-hunt for the accused" said deputy commissioner of police MM Dahikar (Zone X).
