Housewife raped after asking man to pay back loan

A 24-year-old housewife was assaulted and raped by a man in Kalyan, after she asked him to pay back the Rs30,000 she had loaned him.

The incident happened at Khade Golavli village on Monday and the man, Dilip Dhobi, 27, was arrested late at night.

According to the complaint lodged by the family at Kolshewadi police station, the man had taken the loan for some house repair work some months ago.

On Monday afternoon, when he visited the house of the woman, she reminded him again to repay the money. The two argued over the matter. The man abused her and attacked her.

As she cried for help he gagged her, then tore her clothes and raped her. He even threatened her not to tell anybody about the incident and fled from the house. Dhobi is a contract worker.

S Daule, senior police inspector, said the man and the woman had undergone medical tests at a hospital and the reports were awaited. The police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC for rape, assault, causing hurt.
