Two British nationals were manhandled and abused by a footpath dweller in Dadar on Saturday afternoon. The accused thought the two were clicking pictures of him and got into an argument.
The Shivaji Park, in whose jurisdiction the incident took place, have registered a non-cognisable offence against the accused, who has been identified as Raju Kalal, 28.
A police officer said James Henman, 22, and India Hames, 22, were clicking photographs in front of Plaza Cinema in Dadar. Kalal was standing close by and thought that the duo was clicking his pictures. He approached them and told them to stop taking photographs of him. When they tried to explain that they were not clicking his photos, Kalal allegedly got into an argument with them and manhandled them.
“The two were clicking random photographs. They had not clicked a single photograph of Kalal.
However, he thought otherwise and got into a fight with them and also abused them,” said an officer.
Kalal has been booked under IPC sections 323 and 504. He was arrested on the ground of preventive detention under section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
