The Home Guards (HG) Department has identified security agencies engaged in training security guards without licenses. The department is now in the process of slapping notices on these firms.

It is also seeking information on where these guards are being deployed. After getting relevant details, the department will keep residential societies and companies on their guard as they might face a huge risk by hiring these guards. Additional Director General of Police, HG, Sanjay Pandey said, "We have inspected a few firms and discovered that their training licenses were not renewed. Not only do they continue to train guards, they also deploy them for duty in and around Mumbai."

Pandey said the department has taken note of the matter and has issued notices to at least two firms. "Both institutes have trained over 400 guards without a license," he added. The department will also write to the state government, asking officials not to allow these firms to issue training certificates.
