Hoax call puts Bombay High Court on alert

A panic was triggered in Bombay High Court on Wednesday morning after a call of bomb in court premises was made to police control room by a person with an unsound mind.

The court premises was immediately evacuated and search operation was conducted but as police found nothing suspicious, it was later declared a hoax call.

The Azad Maidan police have registered the incident and are trying to trace the caller who has called them several times, earlier.

According to the police, the Mumbai police control room had received a call from an unknown person on Wednesday around 9 am. He mentioned that a bomb has been kept in the courtroom number 51 which is the office of Shriram Joshi, Principal Secretary of Chief Justice Manjula Chellure. He added that the bomb will be exploded with in half an hour.

"After the call, police teams including Anti Terrorism Squad, and bomb disposal squad were reached at the court and the courtroom was evacuated for the search operation. It was declared hoax within 2 hours. We have identified the caller named Umesh and our probe is on," said a senior police officer.
