Hit-and-run case: Salman Khan's lawyer closes evidence

Bollywood star Salman Khan's defence lawyer on Tuesday closed his evidence in the hit-and-run case allegedly involving the actor. The defence produced as its witness Ashok Singh, who was the actor's driver. Singh in his statement had claimed that he was the one who was driving the vehicle when it met with the accident in September 2002; and that it happened because the vehicle developed a technical fault. The defence then filed an application declaring that it had concluded giving its evidence. The court then asked the prosecution to initiate its final arguments in the case.

The actor was arrested in September 2002 for allegedly killing one person and injuring three others after, it was claimed, ramming his vehicle on sleeping pavement dwellers in Bandra.
