A 32-year old man took his hatred against drug peddling to an absurd level and went on to kill a 35-year old man who he suspected was aiding drug peddlers. Ameen Momeen Khan, a history-sheeter, was furious that his nephew and few youths from his locality had got addicted to the drug Mephedrone (MD).

Earlier this month, the police had found a naked body in the forests of Aarey Colony. The police later identified the person as Sagar Kamble, a resident of Milind Nagar in Powai.

Based on specific information, the police had arrested Ameen Khan, as well Jamir Ibrahim, 20, Mubarak Khan, 22 and Altaf Khan, 21 for their alleged involvement in the crime.

Ameen Khan was given life imprisonment in a double murder case of VHP leaders Navinchandra Dubey, 40 and Hoshila Upadhyay, 44 in 2004, and had come out on parole on November 4.

An officer requesting anonymity revealed what Ameen told police during his interrogation. "Ameen said that he was against the drug peddling business and after coming out on parole, he learnt that his nephew and few youths from the locality were being sold MD drugs. Ameen had learnt that these peddlers were being aided by Kamble and this irked him," he said.

The officer added that Khan and his associates forcibly took Kamble to Morarji Nagar in Aarey Colony and murdered him. "Khan had jumped his parole and was planning to go back to jail by surrendering, so as to not be arrested, but we thwarted his plans. All four accused are in police custody till December 17," the officer said.
