To discuss the issues of security, crime, infrastructure and administration, a high level co-ordination meeting was organised under the chairmanship of Maharashtra Director General of Police Satish Mathur on Friday.
The meeting was held at the police headquarters in Maharashtra with senior police officers of district and railways in the state, railways police officers in neighbouring states, zonal officers of railways administration, officers of the Railway Protection Force and of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC).
During the joint discussion, the officers discussed and shared various issues related to detection and prevention of rail sabotage in the country. Security issues and implementation of integrated security systems for the railways were also discussed.
For smooth co-operation and co-ordination within states, the exchange of necessary information of crime and criminals between the neighbouring states on a priority basis was proposed by the DGP Mathur.
During the meeting, Mathur also advised the panel to co-ordinate with the concerned states' Anti Terrorists Squads (ATS) in view of the rail sabotage incidents. He also advised involving more NGOs for creating awareness among railway commuters to decrease the number of accidental deaths and injuries.
