Shah Rukh Khan’s mannat (wish) has been fulfilled. The heritage committee has ruled that the actor can continue to call his bungalow Mannat. Located at Bandra Bandstand, it was earlier called Villa Vienna and activist Santosh Daundkar had complained about the name change.

A heritage committee official told DNA that the name change was approved by an earlier committee in 2006. “So, we decided to uphold the decision,” he said.

Despite the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee’s approval, experts said the alteration is a violation of the Development Control Rule (DCR) 67(2). Other experts said there was no provision in DCR 67 (2) to change the names of heritage properties.

An expert said the state cabinet’s approval was sought to change the name of Victoria Terminus to CST. “But in Shah Rukh’s case, no such procedure was followed. It is a case of blatant violation,” he said.
