Sanjeev Shankar, 24, the technician who survived the helicopter crash at Filter Pada area of Aarey Colony on Sunday has been flown back to his hometown Patna. While the pilot of the private helicopter is dead, Shankar suffered from several fractures.

"Media persons have been hounding him for interviews but the doctor has asked him to not talk too much," said his father Arvind Kumar. He says that while the helicopter company told them that they will pay for his expenses, he isn't sure why his son was hurriedly discharged.

"The police made us run around a lot and my son is still in a lot of pain. We have been given medicines for only seven days and I was told to take him to an orthopedic surgeon in Patna. I kept asking why he was being discharged even though he is still recovering," Kumar said. He added that the pilot tried to avoid the area where the children were playing and the helicopter crashed first into a tree that reduced its impact, before it hit the ground.

Vrinda Modi, 34, who along with her husband Ritesh was on a joy ride to celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary is battling for her life at the National Burns Centre (NBC) in Airoli. Doctors have kept her under sedation following a surgery on Thursday. Still on the ventilator she is yet to be informed about the death of her husband Ritesh Modi.

Her entire torso has been extensively burnt. "I have grafted the skin in her arms which reduces the chances of infection. We are worried about restoring the functionality of the arms at the moment," said Dr Sunil Keswani, director, NBC. Skin grafting surgery involves the transplantation of the skin which is done in case of extensive wounding or trauma.

Doctors will be monitoring her condition closely for the next 96 hours. "While she is stable she is still not out of danger," Dr Keswani said.

Third degree burns

They cause the most damage, extending through every layer of skin.

With this type of burn the damage is so extensive that there may not be any pain because of nerve damage

Symptoms include waxy and white color, char, dark brown color, raised texture and blisters that do not develop
