Mumbaikars are reeling under scorching heat. The city, which experienced the coldest day just nine days back (13.6 degrees Celsius) on Tuesday, witnessed the highest minimum temperatures since 2015, as well as the highest maximum temperature to be recorded in January this year so far.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature recorded at Santacruz was 21.3 degrees Celsius, which was 5 degrees Celsius above normal, while the maximum temperature recorded was 35.6. degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded at the Colaba observatory was 34.0 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 23.0 degrees Celsius.

The all-time high maximum temperature to be ever recorded in January was on January 16, 2006, when mercury hit 37.4 degrees Celsius. Officials from India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the city has been witnessing change in wind pattern for the past four days.
