Hawker menace growing at a fast pace in Vashi

The menace of hawkers has now gone out of control in Navi Mumbai. These illegal hawkers can be seen everywhere from sector 17 of Vashi to sector 9 of the node.
They have taken over our pavements. I have seen people fall as there is no place for them to walk. These are the same people who pay taxes for building and upkeep of these pavements. The authorities at a certain frequency do conduct eviction drives, however, we are responsible for the thriving business of these hawkers.
We reward them for taking over our pavements, creating slums by buying from them, just because they are a bit cheap. They will be cheap as they pay no rent, no taxes, maintain no quality control and no returns policy.
The food hawkers have no licences, follow no rules, maintain no hygiene. Despite directions from the Supreme Court, they continue cooking on our roads and pavements, which was debarred by the court. Indirectly, we are promoting this illegal trade. Our sympathy for the underprivileged has come to haunt us and will become a bigger problem unless we take charge.
Let us not purchase anything from the street hawkers. Our political representatives will pay no heed to our requirements as they in the first place have encouraged these hawkers to setup these stalls.
