An overwhelming sense of despondency filled retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhir Jadhav as he spoke here on the fate of his son Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on the charges of espionage.

Speaking to DNA, Jadhav said, “My son is innocent. I have again and again requested the government to take some action and bring my son back home, but nothing has happened till now. If needed, I will meet the government again. I am helpless now. I heard the news on TV and I cannot do anything. I have left everything to God now. He will help us.”

Kulbhushan’s family resides in Silver Oak Housing Society in Hiranandani, Powai, Mumbai. “The family is in shock right now. We just came back from a village and we will be moving out of Mumbai and settle in our village as nothing remains in this city for us now,” Jadhav added.

Soon after the news broke on television channels, police personnel were deployed around the building where Kulbhushan’s family resides. The police and building authorities kept a close watch on vehicles and people entering the building.

“The government should do something and bring him back,” said a resident of the building, who did not want to be named.
