Ameershad Khan (56), the mastermind behind the brutal murder case of Vakola resident Abdulla Khan (53) has been arrested by the Vakola police. Ameershad who is said to be a distant relative of Haseena Parkar was arrested on Monday night from Chunabhatti area and before nabbing him, the cops had already arrested four other assailants identified as Azeem Khan (29), Jaheed Khan (36), Moinuddin alias Guddu Shaikh (35) and Jitendra Jadav (36) in connection with the killing.
According to the police, Ameershad after stabbing Abdulla on December 21, 2018 along with his other accomplice was on the run and was seeking temporary asylum at different mosques outside Maharashtra.
"Different mosques including those located at Ajmer, Indore and Uttar Pradesh were visited by the accused to stay for few days in a bid to escape arrest. After staying for 4-5 days at each place, he used to go at another location so that no one would suspect him. In his statement, he has confessed that he was not in touch with his family members but within course of time, he ran short of money so he decided to come back and manage some finance and abscond again. We had deployed police officers at places where he was expected to come and also we had sealed his properties in the city," said a police officer from Vakola police station.
On Monday, night, Ameershad on arriving at Chunabhatti to meet one of his known person was arrested and was brought to police station. On being questioned, he confessed that Abdulla had taken over his job and was also performing black magic which led to three consecutive deaths in his family.
As per police sources, the theory of black magic and revenge has some prominence in the case as Ameershad had consulted a priest who said that Abdulla was the main reason behind his bad times. He was said that he was the one targeted to get killed but his good fortune reversed the game and his family members met that fate. Ameershad getting infuriated by this made up his mind to kill Abdulla in a brutal manner. Following the deaths of the son and mother, Ameershad and other family members offered their Friday prayers near their graves," said a police officer requesting anonymity.
"A case has been registered under section 302, 120 (b) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and futher probe in the case is underway. The accused produced at the magistrate court on Tuesday where he has been sent to police custody till February 11," added the police officer.
BACKGROUND OF THE CASE:
On Friday afternoon, Abdulla after reading namaz at the mosque was returning to his shop on a bike where one of the accused first hit him with an iron rod. Other assailants who were silently waiting for him threw chilly powder at his face after which Abdulla was stabbed by a knife and his throat was slit by the same weapon. The accused later took a big stone slab and banged him on his face after which Abdulla died in the spot.
