Guardian minister announces special six lane flyover to connect Thane-Borivali

This road will be prepared, keeping in mind German technology, this 800km road will require more than Rs30,000 crore. But, it will cut travel time from 90mins to 10mins; this tunnel will deviate from Ghodbunder Road to Tikujiniwadi and cover 15km beneath the ground through Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Yeoor.

The minister for Public Works Department (PWD) and guardian minister for Thane, Eknath Shinde, announced special plans for increasing the connectivity of Thane with the rest of the city. He has announced a special six lane underground road that will connect Thane and Borivali. Also, he has received an approval of Rs517 crores for other flyover projects within Thane city.

He also insisted that the roads built, needs to be strong and the progress of any city is possible only when the services provided is maintained. "In the future, areas like Anandnagar, Kasarvadavli, Bhayanderpada and Mulund Toll Naka will have flyovers mushrooming in the vicinity which will help decrease the traffic issues in these cities," added Shinde, while sharing the plans for a six lane underground tunnel to connect Thane-Borivli.

But, it will cut travel time from 90mins to 10mins; this tunnel will deviate from Ghodbunder Road to Tikujiniwadi and cover 15km beneath the ground through Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Yeoor. It will then connect with the Western Express Highway (WEH) at Borivli. Thane and Borivali in North Mumbai are separated by a chain of hills, most of which are a part of the national park.

Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is ready with preliminary reports and a consultant has been appointed to carry out the project. Apart from this, the state government has also approved the widening of Kalyan-Shil road, which will be taken up soon. Within the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) also roads need to be maintained and MSRDC will look into it.
