Green nod for Shivaji memorial in Arabian Seato be availed soon, says CM Devendra Fadnavis

The issue of environment clearances for the proposed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial in the Arabian Sea will be sorted out soon, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday.

Union minister for environment and forests Prakash Javdekar held a meeting with Fadnavis at the state government guest house Sahyadri in the city and reviewed various projects in Maharashtra which are stuck for environment clearances. After the review meeting, Javdekar told media persons that another meeting will be held after 15 days in New Delhi and all the officials concerned with respect to every project in the state will be called for it.

Fadnavis told the media that the union minister has assured that no state project will be stuck for want of green nod, and that the clearances required for Shivaji's memorial in the Arabian Sea too will be availed soon. He also said the project related to Chaitya Bhoomi will be cleared soon.

Talking about the fishermen colonies, or koliwadas, in CRZ, Fadnavis said a decision on these would also be taken soon so that they are improved. The chief minister said he has reviewed various projects, including Navi Mumbai airport and those related to CIDCO. Also reviewed in Thursday's meeting were the issues of Jhudpi Jungles (shrubs forests) in Vidarbha.

Javdekar made it clear that the environment ministry would not come in the way of development of the state.
