A public interest litigation has been filed in the Bombay High Court by social activist Ketan Tirodkar, seeking transfer of probe in the attack on Communist leader Govind Pansare to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The PIL says the Dabholkar murder case was initially being probed by the local police till May 2014, when it was transferred to the CBI by the high court. But by then, the culprits in the contract-killing had sabotaged crucial evidence, due to which the case is yet to be detected, it alleged.

The PIL adds that there are several similarities in the two cases — the timing of the attack (morning walk), use of motorcycle (by shooters), number of shooters, unclear CCTV footage.

Special teams formed by the state police have flopped miserably in the investigation in the Dabholkar assassination due to pressure from evil forces in the system, the PIL says, adding that same has been the fate of RTI activist Satish Shetty murder case, wherein the local police sabotaged the evidence and framed some people, and the CBI is yet to make a breakthrough.

Giving these arguments, the PIL has prayed for transferring the Pansare case to the CBI.
