Shankaracharya added, "We (India) are ready to talk to Pakistan, who is responsible for causing disturbances, but are not ready to talk to the Hurriyat Conference, which is part of the issue."
Govardhan Peethadheeshwar Shankaracharya Swami Adhokshajanand, Puri, who is camping at Sadhugram in Nashik for the Kumbh Mela, hoisted the dharma dhwaja at his shivir on Thursday.
The Shankaracharya, who is very vocal on matters of national interest, opined that the relations between India and Pakistan have become very confusing. "Our foreign policy has started appearing like a joke with respect to Pakistan. On one side, we want the good of Kashmir and Kashmiris, and on the other, we object to the participation of their own representation. How will the issue be resolved then?" he questioned.
Shankaracharya added, "We (India) are ready to talk to Pakistan, who is responsible for causing disturbances, but are not ready to talk to the Hurriyat Conference, which is part of the issue."
If the separatist movement grows all across, it will be harmful for the nation, he said.
"Politicians are responsible for resolving such issues. People have sent them to Parliament, they must ensure our security. Why should political issues be resolved with guns? It is necessary to sit together and talk it out."
The seer said that our forces and government agree on a ceasefire, which, he said, means that firing stops but guns are still present. This is not the solution, according to him. "Discussion will lead a way out of this and it should include all concerned."
"The biggest problem in the country is that everyone is lying. There is no solution to unemployment, inflation is rising, corruption exists... the prime minister had promised to work on these issues but has not been able to do so," the Shankaracharya said.
On the youth, he said the education system needs to undergo a revolutionary change and must include the Vedic education system, which is related to culture and values.
