Got water bills only yesterday and paid promptly: Shiv Sena

Saturday, 28 June 2014 - 7:55am IST | Agency: DNA

The Shiv Sena has clarified that the bills issued by the water department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the name of its leaders Uddhav and Bal Thackeray have been cleared.

Referring to a report in dna's edition dated June 27, 2014, Shiv Sena MLA from Bandra (East) Bala Sawant stated on Friday that payments were not made since the bills were not received. "For several years, I have been paying the bills with money provided by the Thackerays. This time around, the payments remained pending since we did not receive the bills. We got the bills on Friday and promptly paid them," Sawant said.

The BMC had uploaded the list of water bill defaulters, which had the names of Uddhav and Bal Thackeray, on its website. Sawant said it was a mistake on the part of the BMC to have included their names without issuing the bills.
