An RTI activist was allegedly brutally attacked by a group of five goons at a lane in Juhu on Monday. According to Police, Mohabbat Ali Ansari, a resident of Juhu Azad Nagar Society was attacked by local goons with a sharp object.

The attack happens to be the second attack on Ansari in a span of three weeks. However, Ansari was severely injured by this violent strike as he was rushed to the hospital and got more than 40 stitches.

A case has been registered at Juhu Police Station against five people for allegedly attacking the RTI activist. According to sources, Ansari was fighting against irregularities in a proposed Juhu society redevelopment plan and had filed a series of RTI queries regarding the same.

While the other four attackers are absconding, the Juhu police have arrested Nasim Khan, son of chairman of Juhu Azad Nagar society Teshkar Khan against whom Ansari had filed a writ petition in Bombay HC over the alleged irregularities. "There are so many irregularities in the society. I am disappointed as the police are going soft on the attackers," Ansari told DNA.

Ansari also posted about the attack on social media along with the CCTV footage. Confirming about the incident, Sunil Ghosalkar senior Police Inspector of Juhu Police Station said, "The case has been registered and we are investigating the matter further."
