Some unidentified miscreants broke into a computer showroom in Thane's Charai area on Monday night and decamped with laptops and chargers worth Rs6,67,263. The theft was discovered after the showroom owner, a resident of Kasarwadavali, reached the shop on Tuesday morning.

The 38-year-old businessman then reported the incident to the Naupada police. Meanwhile, cops haven taken the CCTV camera footage and are investigating further. Reportedly, the accused had conducted a recce before committing the theft.

"We are checking the footage from the locality and trying to trace the miscreants. We suspect that they had conducted a recce in the area. After they found the shop with less security, they struck and decamped with the valuables," said a Naupada police official.

"We have registered the case under section 457 (house breaking ar night) and 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," said investigation officer AD Gangawane.
