With an aim to spread happiness with the help of community kitchen, Parel-based group of friends have started distributing sehri (a meal eaten before dawn) in city-based government hospitals.

The group distributes packets of meal early in the morning by 3.30 am in different hospitals such as KEM Hospital, Tata Hospital, Wadia Hospital, Sion Hospital and Nair Hospital.

Speaking about the initiative, which began two years ago, Zubair Iqbal, one of the member, said, "There are three major government hospitals in Parel. Few years ago, we realised that the relatives of patients in hospitals find it difficult to find restaurants late at night to eat sehri. We then started a community kitchen for the relatives and hospital staff who need sehri."

The group divides themselves and visits different hospitals at around 11 pm to note down ward numbers and a list of people who wants sehri. The group is serving over 350 people this year. The group funds the initiative from their own pocket to support the social cause.
