Going to Davos is a matter of pride, says Devendra Fadnavis

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said that he is proud to be nominated as a representative to the Davos World Economic Forum. He said that it's also a matter of pride for Maharashtra as only one chief minister in the country is chosen for the forum.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said that he is proud to be nominated as a representative to the Davos World Economic Forum. He said that it's also a matter of pride for Maharashtra as only one chief minister in the country is chosen for the forum.

Fadnavis has been nominated by prime minister Narendra Modi to be a part of Indian delegation to Davos.

"I would harness this opportunity to add to the reputation and glory of the state by utilising every moment of this summit," said Fadnavis. He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the anniversary event of Shiv Sangram organisation. This would be the chief minister's first foreign tour after assuming office.

Fadnavis informed that he would be leaving for Davos in Switzerland on January 20 and would be holding one on one meetings with more than 30 corporate house leaders from all over the world. He also said that he would be making two presentations, out of which one would be on biotechnology and the other on sustainable food and water.

Fadnavis said he would be inviting potential investors to Maharashtra and would showcase the state for the potential investors.

The Indian delegation would be led by finance minister Arun Jaitley and Union minister of state (independent charge) for Power Piyush Goyal would also represent India. In all, 2,500 world leaders from political, social and business backgrounds would attend the 45th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The focal theme for this year's annual meeting is 'The New Global Context'. The meeting would discuss all the aspects including those of security, stability, need for increased cooperation, innovation and related aspects.
