Four years after a bar girl was found murdered in Vasai, the police claimed to have arrested her killers who had been lodged in a prison in Goa. The police have now sought their remand from the Goa police.
The duo – Syran Rodrigues, 24, and Chandrakant Talwar, 39, allegedly murdered the woman, identified only as Priti, in October 2009. Priti’s body had been found in a highly decomposed state near Chinchoti village.
The accused duo – who the Goa police say are ‘serial killers’ – had been arrested in connection with brutal murders of four women that had rocked the tiny coastal state. The victims included a teenage girl and a senior citizen who were killed with an intention to rob them.
It was during their interrogation that the duo confessed to their involvement in the murder of the bar girl in Vasai. That’s how the Goa police informed their counterparts here and brought them to Vasai on transit remand.
“Initial investigations show that the murder was the fallout of a monetary dispute,” said senior inspector KS Hegaje.
