After the special MCOCA court in Mumbai convicted 12 of the 13 arrested in the serial train blasts case, Priti, widow of victim Parag Sawant, demanded that the absconding masterminds too be arrested at the earliest and given the death penalty.

Parag, who was injured in the blasts and in coma for nine years, died on July 7 at Hinduja hospital. Priti now works with the Western Railway as a clerk at Mira Road station. Her daughter Prachiti is in Std IV.

"The convicted should be given the death penalty as they are mass killers... they deserve no mercy," she said. "We believe in the judicial system and expect that they'll be given maximum punishment in minimum time. Even the masterminds should be arrested soon and given the death penalty."

Priti said, "The wounds these people have left on us will never heal or be forgotten. Parag's memories are all we have now and we want his soul to get some peace, which will happen when these men are hanged."

Happy with the judgment, says Mira Road survivor
One of the hundreds injured in the 11/7 blasts, Jankariprasad Joshi, watched the verdict in the case at his residence in Marigold Apartments, Mira Road, on Friday.

Showing the deep wounds on his legs, got in the blast at Matunga, Joshi said, "We are happy that the court convicted the 12 people. We want them to be hanged... no mercy should be shown to them."

"I want the system to take quick decisions and give them the death penalty, instead of keeping them alive on tax-payers' money," he added.
