Girl's uncle killed Abhishek Yadav who eloped with her from UP

The Kurla GRP have sent a team to UP in connection with the murder of a15-year-old Abhishek Yadav, which the police suspect to be a case of honour killing.

The Valiv police had found his body in Vasai forest on June 15 and buried it. It was Vijay, the deceased's father who had come searching for him, who identified the body from the clothes found on him.

Abhishek, a class 10 student, had eloped with a 19-year-old girl on May 26 and came to Mumbai accompanied by a male friend.

The girl's father lives in Mumbai and runs a dye factory in Kandivali. As soon as the girl's family found she was missing, they registered a missing complaint with the UP police. He father in Mumbai was also informed. He in turn told his brother Gulab of the incident. Gulab along with one of his employees went to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and nabbed the couple.

Investigations have revealed that the couple was locked up for two days. Then they took Abhishek to the jungle and killed him. The girl was taken back to her hometown in Gazipur where they tried to kill her.

On June 10, Vijay registered a missing complaint with Kurla GRP, following which police traced the address of Gulab, the girl's uncle, to Kandivali East. However, Gulab, his brother and sister-in-law are absconding. From Gulab's phone records, "we found he had visited Vasai-Nala Sopara belt. We got in touch with the police in that area and were informed about Abhishek's murder," said Kurla GRP, who have added section 302 to the case.
