This year, Navratri aartis from the Chira Bazaar Tadwadi Mandal will be broadcast live on Facebook. This is an attempt to not only reach a bigger audience, but also include those neighbours who have moved away from Girguam and can't be present in person.
The mandal is famous for its 18-ft idol, the tallest in south Mumbai. "We are planning to go live on Facebook with our aartis, even the day when we are bring the idol to the mandal. It is a huge celebration," said Amit Bhadricha of the mandal. He added, the traditional music will only be played once we enter Girgaum. "Why trouble people and cause unnecessary traffic jams on road? When we enter Girgaum, we start our celebrations," said Bhadricha.
