The Xavier’s Aptitude Test (XAT) conducted by the Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, will see some major changes in its pattern from 2013.

For XAT 2013, the duration of the test has been extended to three hours from two hours and 20 minutes, and a section on general awareness has also been added.

As per information provided by the institute, the exam will have two parts: The first part will have multiple choice questions in three sections — data interpretation and quantitative ability; analytical reasoning and decision making; verbal ability and logical reasoning — and the second will include an essay and the general awareness section. Time allotted for the former is two hours and 20 minutes and the latter is 40 minutes.

The changes are being introduced to bring in students from diverse backgrounds.

XAT is conducted every year by XLRI for admission into reputed management institutes such as XLRI, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubneshwar, Goa Institute of Management and other B-schools that take an XAT scorecard into account for admission.

XAT is scheduled for  January 6, 2013, the registrations for which close on November 30. Nearly 1 lakh students are expected to sit for this entrance test. The exam in a pen and paper format will be conducted on just that single day.
