Thane is the cultural hub of Maharashtra and artists as well as residents from the city love to come together to appreciate any form of fine and performing art.

Their appreciation does not end with rounds of applause as they like to know their artists on one-on-one basis. No wonder famous artists across the country love to come to Thane to perform. In one such event to be held by Kalasparsh on Wednesday, Thanekars will get to interact with famous painter and writer Suhas Bahulkar about his works.

Today evening at 5.30 Thanekars can have a tête-à-tête with Bahulkar, who is known for his portraits, paintings and murals. His work finds a pride of place at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, Bombay high court, Pune's Raja Kelkar museum, Nehru centre in Worli and Savarkar Smarak. His work has been highly acclaimed all over the world.

Besides painting, Bahulkar has also authored books like Encyclopedia of Artists, Painters and Sculptors in India, a book on famous artist Gopal Deuskar and the third book on the works of sculptor V P Karmarkar, which he is currently writing.

Speaking about the event, in which dna is the media partner, renowned sculptor Sadashiv Kulkarni, who is behind various 'gappa gacchivarchya' (terrace chat) organised in Thane, says, "Bahulkar will be talking about his experience with various masters of India and his travel around the world."

It is a three-hour interactive session where the audience can converse with the artist. It will be held at Brahman Seva Sangh, Naupada from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

Terrace chat is an initiative started by Kulkarni in 2010, where artists from India are invited to share their experiences with the residents. "These days people are active on social media but do not meet in person. So, we started these chats where we invite artists and people get to meet each other," says Kulkarni. Famous personalities and artists like Indutai Sapkal, poet Ashutosh Apte and painters Shirish Mitbawkar have interacted with Thanekars in the past.
