Gang of 4 involved in Nagpada kidnapping case, says victim's parents

On April 23, Tarannum Sheikh (6), her brother Gulfan (4), and cousin Kulsum Khan (6) went missing from outside of their residence. The family had then lodged a police complaint in this regard. They were later traced at by the Varanasi police at Varanasi railway station and alerted their Mumbai counterparts.

The two missing children from Nagpada, who were recently traced to Varanasi, had given a detailed account of their abduction to the police on Tuesday. They informed the police that in all there were four kidnappers, including two women. The kidnappers had also assaulted the victims and the third missing child, a four-year-old boy, is still with kidnappers, victims told police.

On April 23, Tarannum Sheikh (6), her brother Gulfan (4), and cousin Kulsum Khan (6) went missing from outside of their residence. The family had then lodged a police complaint in this regard. They were later traced at by the Varanasi police at Varanasi railway station and alerted their Mumbai counterparts.

Speaking with dna on Tuesday, Kulsum's mother Nazmi Zuber Khan said, "At the time of incident, children were playing outside the residence at Madanpura. We had recently shifted to this building. An unknown man lured the children with chocolates and took them with him in a taxi. Children were under confinement for two days in a room in Mumbai and were also assaulted by the kidnapper."

She added, the kidnapper then took them to Varanasi where three other accused, including two women joined him. "Thankfully, the girls raised an alarm after which the kidnapper abandoned them at the railway station in Varanasi and fled with Gulfan.

"We are happy that our daughter is safe and is now with her family. We are assisting the police in helping them to trace my son Gulfan," said Tarannum's father, Mohummad Rasool Khan.
