Free up 12-ft space on both sides of nullah, says TMC chief

Jaiswal has issued orders keeping in view the emergency situation which arises mostly during monsoon, making it difficult for them to provide help.

Taking strict measures against illegal encroachment in the city, mostly along nullahs, Thane Municipal Corporation chief Sanjeev Jaiswal has asked officials to take strict action and free up 12-foot space on both sides of the same.

Jaiswal has issued orders keeping in view the emergency situation which arises mostly during monsoon, making it difficult for them to provide help. In a meeting held on Saturday, all officials concerned have been asked to take immediate measures.

Giving the plan of action, he said that in the first phase action against illegal squatters will be taken and 12-foot space will be made available, and, in the next phase, all footpaths in the city will be repaired and freed from encroachment. The officials have also been asked to ensure that the encroachments do come up again.
