The Deonar police on Thursday arrested four more people in connection with the scuffle that took place between supporters of NCP leader Nawab Malik and the party's former MP Sanjay Dina Patil at a party meeting on Tuesday.

Malik alleged that Patil had fired at him with his revolver during the meeting. Patil's supporters too had lodged a cross-complaint against Malik and his supporters, accusing them of assault. Those arrested on Thursday have been identified as Nasir Sahjil Khan(52), Kalimulla Hafijulla Khan (33) Firoz Ali Khan (28) and Chandan Dhondiram Patekar (43).

The police have seized three revolvers, one of which belongs to Patil, while the other two belong to his bodyguards. The weapons have been sent for analysis. Police said they would make further arrests in connection with the counter FIRs filed by the two groups soon.

"In their statements, Patil's police bodyguards said no firing had taken place at the meeting," said Senior Police Inspector Dattatray Shinde. In the cross-complaints, police had booked 32 people, including Malik and Patil, on charges of attempted murder and rioting.
