Four escape with minor injuries after SUV falls off 10-feet-high bridge

Four elderly people escaped with minor injuries after their SUV fell off a 10-feet-high elevated bridge in Borivali east on Monday evening.

The incident happened when the driver suddenly applied teh brakes of the Toyota Fortuner to avoid hitting a bike that was coming from the opposite direction.

The incident happened on the southbound stretch of the Western Express Highway at around 7:30 pm, near Sudhir Khadke Bridge. The car was headed to Dahisar West.

The injured were rushed to Bhagwati hospital and were later shifted to Karuna Hospital. The car was towed away to Dahisar police station.

The injured have been identified as Mira Nair (50) Ramesh Mittal (60), Krishna Kamat (55) and Ashish Kamat (55).

Four people had a miraculous escape, including a 60-year-old man who is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Karuna hospital. We will be recording statements of the victims soon," said an official from the Dahisar police station.
