Four arrested for kidnapping a 22-year-old in Dongri

The Dongri police on Monday night arrested four people for allegedly kidnapping ​​Mofizun Mandal (22)​,​ a Mazga​o​n resident. The victim was kidnapped by a friend, the mastermind in this case, identified as Mohammad Shamieullah Sheikh​. Sheikh ​(26) ​took Mofizun out for lunch, mixed something in the beverage he was consuming and kidnapped him on February 4.

​,​ Sheikh took him out for snacks, mixed something in his beverage and kidnapped him. After kidnapping Mofizun, Sheikh called his brother, Sanarul Mandal, a vegetable seller and asked him for ​a ​ransom ​of Rs 7 lakh.”

“We had made four teams to nab the accused. Our teams started interrogating the friends, family, and peers of the victim. On the basis of a confirmed tip given by one of the friends of the victim, our team found the house of the main accused in JJ Hospital compound. During interrogation, he revealed the place where Mofizun was kept. The accused had kept the victim in a hutment in Dharavi. On the other hand, with the help of Call Detail Record, we also traced the locations where the phone was used more frequently. Our team set up a trap and entered the hutment in Dharavi.”

“On entering the hutment, our team saw that Mofizun was tied and had bruises on his body. Two more accused, Mohammad Shehenshah Rayn and Mohammad Firoz Rayn were arrested.

​One more accused was nabbed on the basis of the information given by the accused. All the for accused are residents of Bihar.”

Mofizun added, “They would beat me up and had warned me not to utter a word or they would kill me with ​a knife.” Sharma added, “

​We have seized the rope, a cloth, and the knife from the spot and registered a case under section 364 (a) of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping ​and ransom.”
