Almost a fortnight after small-time actor Vishal Thakkar went missing from Thane, the Mulund police, which are investigating the case, are yet to make a breakthrough. They are likely to transfer it to the Thane police as the actor went missing from Ghodbunder Road on January 1, which falls under the latter's jurisdiction.

Thakkar, a resident of Mulund, had gone out with his girlfriend to celebrate New Year's Eve. On January 1, he did not return home. His girlfriend had allegedly told the police that the couple had gone to Ahmedabad to celebrate on December 31. On their way back on January 1, they had stopped at a hotel on Ghodbunder Road in Thane for tea. According to the police, Thakkar allegedly told his girlfriend that he wanted to meet a friend in Andheri and left from there. His parents, after waiting for a few days on January 6, approached the Mulund police and registered a missing complaint.

"We have received the missing complaint. We have made inquiries but have not got any clue. Also, Thakkar's phone is switched off since the day he went missing," said Rajaram Vhanmane, senior inspector from Mulund police station.

"We will be transferring the case to the Thane police as he went missing from Ghodbunder Road. All the paper and information related to the case will be handed over to the Thane police."

Thakkar was recently booked for rape by the Mumbai police after his girlfriend allegedly registered a complaint against him. However, the couple later sorted out their differences and his girlfriend allegedly took back her complaint. It was reported that Thakkar was depressed recently due to the rapist tag and was out of work for the last few months.

Thakkar was seen in Chandni Bar, Munna Bhai MBBS and the TV serial Thapki Pyaar Ki on Colors.
